“Did everyone do their homework?” “I did, and you’re right - the first item in the ingredients was corn, not meat.” With everything that children have to learn in school, teachers are talking about dog food? And inflicting their opinions that a particular dog food is better? And what if you don’t own a dog?

The word hero is so incredibly overused. There’s no such thing as a conservation hero. A hero does heroic things. They fight the odds, they do things that most people can’t do, they overcome almost insurmountable obstacles. You don’t become a hero for planting trees or feeding people. They’re great things to do, but they’re not heroic.

I am SO tired of businesses spelling things wrong. Children have enough trouble learning to read without seeing “thru”, “nite”, “tern”, and a host of others being cutzied up to be memorable. Frankly, I’m often less likely to use a business that does that.

Okay, HGTV - I get it. She wants to be taken seriously as an antiques dealer. But if she pronounced her name “Cary” (Kerry) instead of Cahry, the name of the program would make sense.

Okay - it might be a great medication, but their commercials are ridiculous. The guerney following him around is creepy. When you see your doctor, he doesn’t meet with you in his office after your exam. When he writes a prescription, there should be a dosage. And when was the last time a doctor walked with you anywhere, let alone outside the office into the hallway?

Okay, this doesn’t exactly make me crazy, but I’m tired of hearing people whining about temporarily raising children by themselves. I spent seven years with no family and no ex (mine was deceased), and don’t feel that I’m that great a person for doing it. You do what you have to do. It’s difficult, but nowadays so many adults have to do it by themselves permanently. And unfortunately, some of those women make the choice to do it without thinking. This is a longer post, but girls having children without a spouse or significant, preferably a spouse, doesn’t make sense.

Okay - the pen lowers blood sugar. “Don’t use unless you plan to eat in the next 5-10 minutes.” The purpose of the pen is to lower blood sugar. “The most common side effect is low blood sugar.” Augh!

I don’t have it in for State Farm. I’m sure they’re a good insurance company. But their commercials, with their ‘folksy’ attitude, don’t ring true, and frankly, would make me less likely to use them. They have a commercial with a magazine stand. You’re supposed to believe the narrator is standing in front of a magazine stand being taped as he talks, while just plain folks walk past him. Take a close look at the magazines behind him. They’re all fake. Sorry, but I notice things like that.

Does anybody really believe that the people in those commercials aren’t actors? Who thinks that these are “just people” who use the products?

It’s a word I wish could be eliminated from our language, since no one besides sanitation personnel seem to know how to use it. There is no such thing as ‘tons of people’ coming to an open house. Homes can’t have ‘tons of appeal’, nor is there such a thing as ‘writing tons of stories’. I’ve heard all of these on television.
